Since 2002, LandSonar has been building and offering useful applications and services built upon the deep analysis of GPS data streams. These innovative applications and services are designed to improve enterprise efficiency and decision making and are developed in a way that neatly integrates with current IT solutions and management processes.
Traffic data services and solutions
Since early 2002, we have been meticulously and painstakingly compiling and analyzing historical and real-time traffic data from a vast number of sources, including hundreds of millions of hours worth of third-party mobile GPS sensor data of various kinds. Indeed, we have negotiated multi-year or perpetual exclusivity on multiple GPS data streams across North America. Our backend systems currently receive and process in the order of one million individual mobile GPS observations per hour every day.
We have integrated our statistical-analysis software with this massive, proprietary, growing nationwide database, and as a result, since late 2005 we can accurately predict traffic conditions on virtually all U.S. highways and virtually all U.S. arterial roads. We can accurately predict traffic conditions hours in advance, days in advance, weeks in advance — even months in advance. In addition, our predictions can incorporate the impact of real-time variables such as weather conditions, road construction, sports events, etc. In short, we can accurately model traffic patterns for virtually any travel route in the U.S. road network, as shown in this example:
Our service has been extensively (but secretly) field-tested, typically with delivery fleets driving through multi-hour routes in large, dense metropolitan areas. All field trials have been successful beyond expectation, reducing estimated-time-of-arrival errors by 70-90% as compared to the estimates generated by high-end fleet routing software.
